Yoga can help improve balance, strengthen muscles, prevent injuries and calm the mind. The whole body approach to wellness in yoga is extremely beneficial and MADO Healthcare has been glad to welcome Melissa Renzi, Licensed Social Worker and Certified Yoga Instructor, to host weekly yoga classes at MADO Healthcare. Melissa is passionate about having the healing practice of yoga available to all. Classes are offered weekly, for 75 minutes, to any interested client or staff member. The yoga program at MADO was piloted at the start of 2019. Melissa, specializes in teaching yoga therapeutically in non-traditional settings, including addiction treatment and mental health centers and says that, “By offering trauma-informed, chair yoga, clients of all ages and abilities come as they are and move through yoga postures and breathing techniques in a way that feels supportive. I’ve heard from clients who have reported reduced pain, increased mobility, feelings of relaxation, and greater body awareness.” Because of the enthusiastic client and staff interest, MADO Healthcare is glad to continue to offer weekly yoga classes for all.
